Drive All Night

A piece of lesbian history from the “girl with a guitar” who truly sang for her supper. Jamie brings the road to you in color and out loud. –Suzanne Westenhoefer

I wrote a memoir. I’m not Lady Gaga so maybe you don’t care. Or maybe you want a funny and insightful book that tells the real story of what it’s like to be a touring musician, from taking off my shirt for Amy Ray to sharing housing with a pig. A real one. I also recount the vagaries of gigs, like the time Jesus appeared or the concert where my opening act read poetry about bodily functions. There’s also the good stuff like when I had to tour in Hawaii (I know, you feel sorry for me) and when Melissa Etheridge came to my gig. Okay, I was opening for Kate Clinton. Can I pretend it was my gig?

Drive All Night is available directly from Bella Books as well as a plethora of bookstores and online sites. Don’t believe me? Google it. You can even get it from Walmart.

Here’s some of the other cool stuff people are saying about my book:

An extraordinary glimpse into the life of a touring musician. — Nancy Manahan, author/editor, Lesbian Nuns: Breaking Silence

Jamie’s as endlessly funny an entertainer on the page as on the stage. — Lee Lynch, author, The Swashbuckler and many more

She leads with her sense of humor and heart … — Lisa Koch, musician-comic -actor and frequent Olivia entertainer

A sample chapter is here.

Some blah blah about me:

Jamie Anderson has worn out three pick-up trucks since 1987, seen forty-seven of fifty states, immigrated to Canada, and consumed countless cases of M&M’s while bringing her brand of confused folk music to venues around the world. The award winning composer and musician taught herself guitar by memorizing chords in a Mel Bay song book. She now teaches guitar, mandolin, ukulele and songwriting in her studio and for schools—including Duke University. A native of Arizona, she lives in Ottawa.

What book would be complete without a soundtrack? Here’s a cartoon featuring my song “Drive All Night”:

And finally, a video that has nothing to do with the book, just so you have something funny featuring me to email your friends:
